Sound Lab

Sound Lab

Soundlab
The soundlab is a box-shaped room of dimensions 5.40 m by 6.38 m by 4.05 m (width, length, height). Next to the soundlab, a control booth is available where equipment can be placed. There is a big window between the soundlab and the control booth so that test subjects can be monitored.
Efforts have been made to ensure that the acoustical background noise generated by, e.g., ventilation and lights is low. The room has also been treated with acoustic absorbers and diffusers to lower the reverberation time. However, the soundlab has not been tested against standards.
The room is used for many different purposes spanning from listening tests to testing multichannel playback algorithms to doing acoustical measurements.
The sound lab has a wide range of high-end and state-of-the-art equipment for audio acquisition and measurement. This includes (but is not limited to)
- G.R.A.S. Kemar Manikin
- Brüel & Kjær Omnisource 4295
- mh acouctics’ Eigenmike microphone array
- Array microphones (G.R.A.S. 40 PH and Behringer ECM8000)
- Studio monitors (Dynaudio BM6A MkII)
- GN ReSound prototyping hearing aid platform
- Various audio recording equipment such as AD/DA converters
